While attending Lindenwood University, I took an InDesign course that asked us to create a menu for an existing restaurant. I chose Tony’s on Main which is a small, locally-owned restaurant located on Historic Main Street in St. Charles, MO. As I am familiar with this restaurant, it is high-quality American cuisine located in a cozy, historic space. When making the menu I knew I wanted it to be sophisticated and clean to give the home feeling a more elevated, luxury feel. When combining the historic, old restaurant and the new, clean menu, you get a reclaimed history feel. Using black and white was an easy decision as it immediately gave a clean feel to the design. Font choice is always a key part of any design, which is why I chose a classy, serif font; Mrs. Eaves. Using rounded rectangles throughout helped section certain elements of the menu, making it an easier read.
